Sailormoon World -- Information Notebook -- Sailormoon Cronology

This Chronology is constructed from episode observation, information from various On-Line resources, and the Sailor Moon Role-Playing Game and Resource Book. Any mistakes in this rendition of the Chronology belong to the author, (Tuxedo Sunwatcher), and if politely pointed out, they will be repaired. We here at Sailormoon World have tried to figure in all of the paradoxes, and have noted them where appropriate. Time doesn't exactly flow in a straight line in the series, so consequently there are temporal anomalies. We will try to keep the line of time, and the support information that relates to it, as complete as possible with the data we have on hand.

Here's one of them: After beating Beryl clean out of the dimension at the end of the first season, the memories of the Senshi (Scouts), their friends and all their families were wiped as a result of the magic of the Imperium Silver CrystaI. At the start of the season, the girls were getting ready to move to the third year of Junior high school. (9th Grade, to us Americans.) Afterwards, however, even though some time had indeed passed for the girls, their memories were gone, so they had to start 8th Grade over again. And if the Crystal had completely wiped them clean, the Senshi (Scouts) would surely have to notice the huge hole in their recollections. People's memories do not work in the same way a computer does, we store some things, and let others pass. That's why the Crystal let some things stay, and wiped others, so the Senshi would think it "normal" to be when they were. What makes the situation paradoxical is how the Senshi will relate to the rest of the environment they live in.

Here's another, from later on: In episode #90, (the first in Sailormoon S), the girls are in 9th Grade and are studying for their High School entrance exams, supposedly less than a year away. In epp 101, Usagi (Serena) celebrates her 16th birthday, placing that particular episode at 30 June 1994. The next season, (Super S, episode #128-166), they're never shown going to school, and in only a single episode are they shown to be on summer vacation. Placing that particular summer vacation epp to be mid-summer of 1995 and the Scouts should already be in High School. But..., it's not until Sailor Stars, (episode #167-200), that we actually see the girls in High School... nearly two years after Sailormoon S. Confused yet?

Okay, there is an explanation for that last one, but you'll have to follow me carefully, okay? Here goes, the 4th season, (Sailormoon SuperS), involved a rather powerful entity in one Queen Nephrenia, begins in Jan 1995 and seems to extend until Jan 1996. I say "seems to extend", because this time exists in Queen Nephrenia's dream. The temporal flow between real time, and dream time is different in that only two months pass in real time. When Nephrenia wakes up after her short appearance in Sailor Stars, (episode #167-172), time is restored.

2000 Years ago (approximately 8 BC)		The Silver Millenium begins. (One thousand years of peace and harmony for the Universe.)
1000 Years ago (Approximately 992 AD)		Queen Beryl, with the help of the Queen Metalia (Negaforce), manages to find a way out of the Dark Kingdom (Negaverse) and launch an attack on the Moon Kingdom and the Earth. Her four Generals: Jedite, Nephlite, Malachite, and Zoycite pull off a victory and trash the Moon Kingdom. Queen Serenity manages to use the power of the Imperium Silver Crystal, and the Crescent Moon Wand to: Imprison the Seven Shadow Warriors within the Silver Imperium Crystal (episode #21), Banish the invading Armies of the Dark Kingdom back to whence they came for a thousand years (episode #39), and then, using the very last of her strength, send Princess Serenity (Serena), Endymion (Darien), and the Senshi (Scouts) to be reborn one thousand years into the future, on Earth. (also episode #39) Luna and Artemis go as well, because Queen Serenity realizes that the scouts will need Mentors while they are on Earth. Queen Serenity does die (episode #39), but not until after the crystal shatters and the seven are trapped inside them. (episode #21)

		A very young Chiba Mamoru is involved in a serious automobile crash that leaves him with complete amnesia and an orphan as neither of his parents survived the crash. (episode #30)
		The Extraterrestrial named Fiore lands on Earth, and befriends Chiba Mamoru (Sailormoon R movie).
		Birth of Tsukino Shingo, (Sammy Tsukino) {Sailormoon R movie}.
		Usagi and Mamoru meet for the very first time in the hospital, Usagi is there for her brother's birth. She gives Mamoru a rose. (Sailormoon R movie)

January 6

Birth of Birth of Tomoe Hotaru, (Hotaru Tomoe).

Artemis finds Aino Minako, whereupon he provides her with a transformation pen, and she begins her Crime-fighting career as Sailor V.

Late March		The Dark Kingdom (Negaverse) invades Earth for the first time since the Silver Millennium. Usagi and company enter Grade 8 at Juubangi Jr. High, (Crossroads Jr. High) Sailor V game released at the Crown Game Center. The Events of NA episode #1 happen, (A Moon Star is Born). Usagi first transforms into Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask first arrives to save Sailor Moon. Events of Japanese episode #2 occur. (This episode is skipped in NA) Events of NA episode #2 happen. (Talk Radio)
April		All events from NA episodes 3, 4, and 5 happen, (Slim City, So You Want to be a Superstar, and Computer School Blues), concurrently with Japanese episodes 5 and 6 which are skipped in NA. Mizuno Ami first transforms into Sailor Mercury.
May		All events from NA episodes 6, and 7 happen. (Time Bomb, and An Uncharmed Life) Hino Raye first transforms into Sailor Mars. Events from NA episodes 8, 9 and 10 happen. (Nightmare in Dreamland, Cruise Blues, and Fight to the Finish) Jadeite (Jedite) is placed into "Eternal Sleep" by Queen Beryl for failure. (What she does is put him into a large quartz-like crystal and sticks him somewhere in the Dark Kingdom (Negaverse) and we never hear from him again.)
June		All events from NA episodes 11, 12, 13, and 14 happen. (Match Point for Sailor Moon, An Unnatural Phenomena, Wedding Day Blues, and Shutter Bugged)
July		All events from NA episodes 15, 16, and 17 happen. (Dangerous Dollies, Who was that Masked Man, and An Animated Mess) Concurrently with the above, events from Jap episodes 20 happen. (This episode was skipped in NA.)
August		All events from NA episodes 18, 19, and 20 happen. (Worth a Princess's Ransom, Molly's Folly, and a Friend in Wolf's Clothing) Nephlite is killed by Zoycite's Youma. The events from NA episode 21 happen. (Jupiter Comes Thundering In) Kino Makoto first transforms into Sailor Jupiter. The events from NA episode 22 happen. (The Power of Friendship)
September		All events from NA episodes 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 happen. (Mercury's Mental Match, An Artful Attack, Too Many Girlfriends, Grandpa's Follies, and Kitty Chaos)
October		Events from NA episodes 28, and 29 happen. (Tuxedo Melvin, and Sailor V Makes the Scene) Aino Minako first arrives as Sailor Venus. Luna and Artemis are re-united for the first time since Queen Serenity sent them to Earth. Events from episode 30, (A Crystal Clear Destiny) happen. We find out that Sailor Moon is the Moon Princess. Usagi and Mamoru find out that each is Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen (Mask) respectively (This is the ONLY episode in which Tuxedo Kamen's transformation sequence appears. [It is equal to Japanese Episode #34, and, to our knowledge, the sequence does not appear anywhere else in the series.] If you know of anywhere else it does appear, please let us know, and we'll place it where it belongs.) Events from NA episode 31 happen. (A Reluctant Princess) Zoycite is killed by Beryl for disobeying a direct order.
November		Events from NA episodes 32, 33, and 34 happen. (Bad Hair Day, Little Miss Manners, and Ski Bunny Blues)
December		Events from NA episodes 35, 36, and 37 happen. Events from Japaense episode 42 happen. (this episode was skipped in NA)

January		Events from NA episodes 38, and 39 happen. (Fractious Friends and The Past Returns) Malachite is killed in battle with Sailor Moon when she reflects one of his attacks back at him, and he can't get out of the way in time. Events from Japanese episodes 45 & 46 happen, and they are combined into NA episode #40. (Day of Destiny) On the way to the confrontation with Beryl, all the Scouts are dispatched by Beryl's special Yomas, (Called the Doom and Gloom Girls) one at a time, leaving Sailor Moon alone. Prince Endymion (Darien) also dies while protecting Sailor Moon. Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom (Negaverse) are destroyed by the Moon Princess, assisted by the Senshi's (Scouts) spirits, in the Japanese episode, the Princess dies from exhaustion. In the NA version she does not. The Senshi and Mamoru are re-born, without their memories. Presumably, other memories are altered as well.
Late March		The Senshi enter Grade 8 again. Events happen from NA episode 41 (The Return of Sailor Moon). Ail and Ann (Alan and Ann) appear for the first time. Events happen from NA episodes 42, 43, and 44 happen. (So You Want to be in Pictures, A Knight To Remember, VR Madness).
April		Events from NA episodes 45, 46, and 47 happen. (Cherry Blossom Times, Kindergarten Chaos, and Much Ado About Babysitting) Sailors Moon, Venus, and Mercury, (Respectively) get an increase in their abilities called a "Power Up".
May		Events from NA episodes 48, 49, and 50 happen. (Raye's Day in the Spotlight, Food Fetish, and Mirror Mirror on the Wall) Sailors Mars and Jupiter power up, respectively.
June		Events from NA episodes 51,52,and 53 happen. (Detention Doldrums, Secret Garden, and Treed) Ann dies From the Doom Trees attack, but is reborn as the Doom Tree becomes the Tree of Life. Events from NA episode 54 happen. (Serena Times Two) Chibi Usa (Rini) first arrives from the 30th Century, followed by Rubius and the rest of the Black Moon Family (Negamoon Family).
July		Events from NA episodes 55, and 56 happen.(The Cosmetic Caper, and Sailor Mercury Moving On). Sailor Mercury gets 2nd power up. Events from NA episode 57 happen. (Gramps in a Pickle) Sailor Mars gets 2nd power up. Events from NA episode 58 happen. (Trouble Comes Thundering Down)
August		Events from NA episode 59 happen. (A Charmed Life) Sailors Jupiter and Venus get 2nd power up. Events from NA episode 60 and Japanese episode 67 happen. (A Curried Favor, and the Japanese episode was skipped in NA)
September		Events from NA episodes 61, and 62 happen. (Naughty 'N' Nice, and Prediction of Doom)
October		Events from NA episode 63 happen. (Enemies No More) Cooan (Catzi) gets healed by Sailor Moon, and becomes a normal human. Events from NA episode 64 happen. (Checkmate) Beruche (Bertie) gets healed by Sailor Moon, and becomes a normal human. Events from NA episode 65 happen. (Sibling Rivalry) The Scouts use the combined attack "Sailor Planet Power" for the first time. Both Calaveras (Avery) and Petz (Prizma) get healed by Sailor Moon, and become normal humans.
November		Events from NA episodes 66, and 67 happen. (Rubius Evens the Score, and Rubius Strikes Out) Rubius is killed when Esmeraude (Emerald) strands him in his rapidly disintegrating spacecraft. He dies screaming her name. Events from NA episode 68 happen. (The Secret of the Luna Sphere) Sailor Pluto first makes her prescence known to the Senshi.
December		Events from NA episodes 69,70,71, and 72 happen. (Emeraude Takes Over, Promises Fulfilled, No Thanks...Nurse Venus, and Dog Day for Artemis)

January		Events from NA episode 73 happen. (Lonley Amy) Events happen from Sailormoon R Movie. Sailormoon, as her Moon Princess aspect, dies trying to save Mamoru and the Senshi. She does so by trying to draw too much energy from the Imperium Silver Crystal. The Imperium Silver Crystal shatters from the strain. Fiore gives Mamoru the Flower of Life, which restores the Imperium Silver Crystal and revives Sailor Moon. Events from NA episodes 74,75,78,and 79 happen. (Child's Play, Future Shocked, Birth of Wicked Lady, and Brotherly Love) Saffir (Sapphire) is murdered by Wiseman after learning of his plans for Demando (Diamond) and to destroy the universe. Events from NA episode 80 happen (Diamond in the Rough) Demando and Wiseman kill each other in combat, but Wiseman doesn't stay dead, his Crystal Ball revives him. Events from NA episode 80 happen. (Final Battle) It's revealed that Wiseman is the Doom Phantom. Sailor Moon and Chibi Usa destroy the Doom Phantom, with the help of Tuxedo Kamen and the Senshi. Chibi Usa returns to a peaceful 30th Century Tokyo.
March thru December		Events from Japanese episodes 90 thru 127 happen. [Sailormoon S] (These episodes have not been shown in North America) Events from the Sailormoon S Movie happen. (December)

January to February		Events from Japanese episodes 128-166 happen. [Sailormoon SuperS] (These have not been shown in NA) Events from the Sailormoon SuperS movie happen. (February)
Late February-Early March		Events from the Japanese TV SuperS special Ami-chan no Hatsukoi happen.
Late March-Late October		Events from Japanese episodes 167-200 happen. [Sailormoon Sailor Stars] (These have not been shown in NA)
Early 21st century		A mysterious ecological disaster happens, and the entire Earth is frozen. Every living thing on the planet is fixed in a state of dormancy for 900 years.
Early 30th Century		Neo-Queen Serenity uses the power of the Imperium Silver Crystal to wake up the Earth. NA Storyline: Forces from beyond the universe attack Earth, and are defeated. Those members of this force who refused cleansing by the Imperium Silver Crystal were banished into space, and took up residence on Nemesis. Japanese Storyline: Neo-Queen Serenity, in an attempt to purify the Earth in order to create Crystal Tokyo, must purify the people as well. Those who refused this cleansing, chose to leave Earth to establish themselves on Nemesis. This is the origin of the Black Moon Family.
Late 30th Century		Chibi Usa innocently steals the Imperium Silver Crystal, hoping to become "A real Lady, like Mommy." The Imperium Silver Crystal actually enters her little body, causing the defenses of Crystal Tokyo to fail. The Black Moon Family takes full advantage of this and attacks. Events from NA episodes 76,77, and the first part of 78 happen. (Legend of the Negamoon, Jealousy's Just Reward, and Birth of Wicked Lady) Chibi Usa (Rini), returns to the 20th Century to train with the Senshi there. Diana travels to the 20th Century, to rejoin Chibi Usa. Chibi Usa and Diana return to 30th Century Tokyo.
